Research Objectives
The Discourse Interaction Research Group (GIID)
main research goals are:
- the
identification and analysis of interpersonal communication in a variety of
contexts: bureaucratic, institutional, work, service encounters, mediated
communication (telephone, SMS, web), casual, etc;
- the
identification and analysis of the dimensions that clarify the processes by
which both individuals and groups produce, construct, maintain and reinforce
their diverse social identities;
- the
online publication of materials that are relevant to the study of verbal
interaction, with the goal of promoting an active debate about relevant
methodological and theoretical issues in this area of study;
- the
collection of ethnographic information that contributes to the interpretation
of the data and of documentation that is relevant to establish the context of
spoken communication;
Secondly, the group considers that
research in this area has a direct application in contexts where language is a
vital instrument for communication, thus seeking to develop its’ research
potential applications:
- with the presentation of its data and conclusions in seminars and workshops;
- with the production of textual and audiovisual resources.
